Peptide Therapy
What is peptide therapy?
Peptides are chains of amino acids that are naturally found in the body and can also be ingested through food & supplements. “Peptide therapy” is therefore a very broad category and may include multiple types of peptides.
Peptides are vital components of the structure of our bodies, and also perform essential functions as well.
Peptides have dozens of uses from cancer therapies, anemia, autoimmune disorders, diabetes and many other diseases. At Defiance Health we use peptides to support muscle and reduce fat, improve energy, improve sexual function and to reduce GI and musculoskeletal inflammation.
If you’re interested in supplementing with peptides to optimize your health, it’s always best to consult with an experienced healthcare provider who can help guide you to safe and effective treatments.

BPC-157 (oral capsules)
Injuries, Healing, Intestinal Problems
BPC-157 is the short-form name of “Body Protection Compound 157,” a synthetic formulation derived from 15 amino acids derived from the stomach’s gastric juices. The peptide is known to activate our body’s growth hormone receptors and increase blood flow which may enhance healing. BPC-157 helps accelerate the body’s ability to heal from injuries and decrease inflammation particularly with injuries affecting the skin, muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Patients with the following conditions have also successfully used this peptide to improve their gastrointestinal symptoms:
• Inflammatory bowel syndrome
• Crohn’s disease
• Ulcerative colitis
• Leaky gut syndrome
• Acid reflux
• Ulcers
• Fistulas
• Malabsorption syndrome
• Chronic constipation or diarrhea

Tirzepatide & Semaglutide (weekly injections)
Weight Loss, Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health
Semaglutide is a selective GLP-1 receptor agonist, while Tirzepatide is a dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist.
Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonists (also known as GLP-1 receptor agonists, incretin mimetics, or GLP-1 analogs) represent a class of medications used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. These medications interact with the parts of the brain that reduce appetite and signal a feeling of fullness. Another role of GLP-1 is to prompt the body to produce more insulin, which reduces blood glucose (sugar).
Clinical Evidence
Semaglutide/Wegovy: At week 68, semaglutide-treated participants lost an average of 14.9% of baseline weight, compared with 2.4% for those assigned to placebo (untreated).
Tirzepatide/Mounjaro: A phase 3 randomized, controlled clinical trial demonstrated that tirzepatide led to a 20 percent reduction in body weight over 72 weeks.

Bremelanotide (PT 141, Vyleesi)
Bremelanotide, sold under the brand name Vyleesi, is a medication used to treat low sexual desire in women. Bremelanotide is administered intranasally or as a subcutaneous injection. Specifically PT-141 is used for low sexual desire which occurs before menopause and is not due to medical problems, psychiatric problems, or problems within the relationship.
Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) is the most prevalent female sexual health disorder. Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) is a persistent deficiency or absence of sexual fantasies and desire resulting in significant distress or interpersonal difficulty. Women with this disorder may display a lack of motivation for sexual activity, reduced responsiveness to erotic cues, a loss of interest during sexual activity, and avoidance of situations that could lead to sexual activity.

Gonadorelin
Gonadorelin is a peptide that stimulates the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), helping maintain natural testicular function in men undergoing testosterone supplementation. It supports healthy sperm production and testicular size, preventing testicular atrophy often associated with long-term testosterone therapy. This makes it a valuable addition for those seeking to optimize their hormone therapy while preserving fertility and overall testicular health, & one of many ways that Defiance Health is set apart as the most experienced, thorough hormone clinics in Colorado & the USA.
