We understand that starting hormone therapy is an important and sometimes daunting decision. At Defiance Health we are committed to making this journey as seamless, informative, and supportive as possible. Below, we detail the steps of our process to help you know what to expect.

1. Initial Introduction

Your first interaction with our clinic may be an introduction, which can be done:

- Over the phone.

- In person at our office, if you prefer a more personal touch.

2. Comprehensive First Visit

When you come to our clinic for the first time, we will:

• Measure your vital signs: This helps us understand your baseline health.

• Assess your body composition: This gives insight into your hormonal needs and health status. We use a state-of-the-art device to ensure accurate, thorough data.

• Blood draw: This is essential for determining your hormone levels and other related health markers. Typically this is scheduled after a 9-12 hour fast from food, ensuring plenty of water intake to facilitate an easy blood sample collection. Our blood panel is quite extensive, encompassing many more tests than commonly obtained with "routine labs."

• Review intake forms: You'll fill out intake forms detailing your health history, concerns, and goals for the treatment prior to your appointment. If you need to complete these in the office, please arrive at least 15-20 minutes prior to your appointment to do so. We review these forms with you to ensure accuracy and clarity--this helps us tailor the therapy to your unique needs.

3. Lab Review & Treatment Discussion

At your next appointment we will complete:

• Lab review: Typically within the same week or the following week of your first visit, you'll return to our office. During this one-hour appointment, we'll discuss the results of your blood tests.

• Presentation of treatment options: Based on your lab results and our discussion, we'll present you with potential treatment options.

If time allows during this appointment:

• Begin--We may initiate parts of your treatment plan immediately.

If we can't start the full treatment that day, we may:

• Book another appointment: We will schedule a subsequent visit soon after to finalize and begin your treatment.

4. Follow-Up Appointments

- 1st follow-up: Scheduled 1 month after starting the treatment.

- 2nd follow-up: Scheduled 2 months after starting the treatment.

5. Regular Lab Testing

- First lab test: Approximately 10-12 weeks after initiating treatment, we'll schedule another lab test. This helps us assess how well your body is responding to the therapy and whether any dose adjustments are needed. A full panel of labs is NOT always required - the panel is customized to include only what is necessary for your health & medication management, as well as any optional tests you request.

- Ongoing lab tests: After the initial assessment, we'll check your labs every 3 months--again, only what is required and any additional requested by you. As treatment progresses and stabilizes, our providers might adjust the frequency of these checks, potentially spacing them out further.

6. Treatment Administration

The frequency of your office visits might vary depending on:

- In-office injections: If you are receiving hormone injections at our clinic, this might necessitate weekly visits.

- Home administration: If you're self-administering your medications at home, your visits might be less frequent.
